Introduction
Hi and welcome to the strategy section of the site. This is meant mostly as a start-up guide for people who are relatively new to Online Hold-Em or for those who have played for a while and are looking to improve their skills or get rid of bad habits. Before you look any further into this section, let me tell you the most important two words that I have ever been told about poker: PATIENCE and DISCIPLINE! Always repeat these words to yourself whenever you are playing; they will certainly keep you out of trouble.
Don't Play Like a Fish
Firstly, I recommend that you play a tight game. Playing tight means being selective when choosing which pocket cards to play. It is difficult to define exactly what cards to play but I will say this much: when playing in a ring game with 7-10 opponents play higher pocket pairs, mid to high suited connectors and face cards. Of course, different situations such as playing in a tournament, playing with fewer players in a pot, or playing "Heads-Up" (only two players), may call for looser or tighter hand selection.
